Wakatipu High School Students Come Canyoning

We kicked Queenstown Adventure Week off with getting the youth involved in adventuring in their own big, beautiful backyard. Here at Canyon Explorers, we think it’s so important to get the younger generations out in nature! We have been working with the Wakatipu High School Year 11 Geography students since 2015.

Today, we took 34 students and teachers along for our Half Day adventure through our Queenstown canyon, 20 minutes outside of town. Our guiding team shared their knowledge about the geology and history of this area we operate in. They also shared insights into what considerations are important when operating a commercial canyoning business.

The students learned about our Health & Safety and the training and development of our guides, along with our emergency response planning we have in place. They also learned about our relationship with the Department of Conversation.

Alongside all the learning and adventure of jumping, scrambling, abseiling and sliding through the canyon, we make sure everyone has a fun and safe canyoning experience!

A big thanks to our amazing guides for safely leading these trips – Alex, Melissa, Rachel, Renee, and Riki. We can’t wait to welcome more students along next year!
